Top 10 Mozilla Firefox keyboard shortcuts you should use!
Sep 27th, 2007 by Erik Gyepes
Mozilla Firefox is my no. 1 web browser and I also must to admit that it is the most used application on my desktop. I’m using it on daily basis and as I like to do things fast and in a comfortable way I’m using keyboard shortcuts. I thought that they could help to many of my readers too, so I’d love to share them with you:
- Ctrl+T [open a new tab]
- Ctrl+W [close current tab]
- Alt+D [go to address bar]

- Ctrl+K [go to search bar]
- Ctrl+Shift+T [reopen the latest closed tab]
- Ctrl+F [search the page]
- Ctrl++ or Ctrl+- [increase/decrease text size]
- F5 [refresh (reload) page]
- Alt+Home [go to homepage]
- Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab (or Ctrl+PageUp and Ctrl+PageDown) [go to the next/previous tab]
The order of shortcuts is random as I’m using them also randomly, but those are my most used keyboard shortcuts in Firefox.
What cool (productive|killer|hidden|whatever) shortcuts do you use? Share them with us in the comments!

#4 doesn’t actually work, I tried it multiple times. Possibly this is for version 1.x.x. Others work for 2.x.x.x
Thank you Lamonte for letting me know. It should be: Ctrl+K (it was a typo and I fixed it now)
also, its easier to use F6 to go the homepage
I have never been a big fan of keyboard shortcuts I always seem to work quicker wither the mouse but I do love using Ctrl+F and using the souse wheel to open and close tabs.
Ah nice :), I’ll subscribe to your feed btw.
So where’s the shortcut that hits the StumbleUpon button for you?
There is a shorter one for #3, F6 does the same thing.
For text size you can also use ctrl+scroll wheel. It’s like a zoom but only affects text.
Great, thank you. I use “/” instead of ctrl+f, but thats just me. I especially like the reopen last closed tab shortcut - awesome!
Hi, you can hit
Ctrl + L to go to the address bar
Ctrl + F4 to close the current Tab
Ctrl + F12 to undo close Tab
Eww! What is on that keyboard picture! Keep that to yourself PLEASE.

jkillah1: the default shortcut for stumble is Alt-` but shortcuts aren’t enabled by default, gotta turn em on via options
This is nice but you forget that Ctrl+G is also a shortcut when you want to search the page and also Ctrl+B when you want to open your bookmarks.
Anyways these are nice and useful shortcuts..^^..thanks for posting..^^
